Chrome Extension Data Policy
Last updated: April 2, 2026
What Liminary Does
Liminary helps you save and organize web content: webpages, PDFs, documents, videos, and more, so you can find and revisit it when you need it. Our Chrome extension is how you save content from your browser and interact with your Liminary account.
This policy explains what data the Liminary Chrome extension collects, how it's used, and how it's protected. It supplements our Security and Privacy Policies which govern your use of all Liminary products.
What Data We Collect
Content You Save
When you save a page via the save button, keyboard shortcut, right-click menu, the extension collects and transmits:
The page content (HTML, text, or structured exports for supported platforms)
The page URL and title
Page metadata such as description tags
The specific content extracted may vary by website. For supported platforms, we use optimized extraction methods (e.g., Google's export APIs for Docs and Sheets) to capture the most complete and useful version of the content.
We only capture this content to save a copy for your use. All saved content is encrypted in transit and at rest. You can read more about our security and privacy policies for details.
Chrome data use
Liminary uses Chrome browser activity data to provide business process discovery and analytics. The extension assists in collecting business process and task execution data from SaaS applications and other process steps executed in the browser.
Recall Feature
Recall is an opt-in feature that helps resurface relevant content you've previously saved. Recall only operates when you have explicitly authorized it and initiated an interaction: it does not passively monitor or capture your screen. When you interact with Recall, the extension may capture a screenshot of your current tab and send contextual information to our servers to generate suggestions.
Usage Signals
The extension may collect interaction signals (such as engagement patterns on a page) to improve product functionality, such as determining when content has meaningfully changed. These signals are used to enhance your experience and are not used to track your general browsing behavior.
Analytics and Error Reporting
We use third-party analytics services to understand how the extension is used and to identify bugs. Usage events (such as saves, feature interactions, and errors) may include your user ID, email, extension version, and event-specific context. Sensitive form inputs are not captured.
We use error reporting tools to diagnose crashes and issues, with personally identifiable information filtered where possible.
We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with data brokers. For more detail, see our Privacy Policy.
Data Protection
All data transmitted between the extension and Liminary's servers is encrypted in transit. Data stored on our servers is encrypted at rest using AES-256.
Data Retention
Generally, we will keep your information for 2 years or so. If we haven't heard from you in that time, we will automatically remove you from our system. You can delete individual saved items at any time from within the app or extension.
To request deletion of your account and all associated data, contact us at security@liminary.io. Upon account deletion, your content is permanently removed within 120 days. Email and profile information are deleted immediately. You can read more about our security and privacy policies for details.
Disabled URLs
The extension maintains a list of URLs where content saving is automatically disabled to protect sensitive information (e.g., banking or financial sites).
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
